Finally, the Grand Gold Toilet Heist is nearing conclusion, with three men appearing this week in court for the 2019 theft of the 98kg artwork by Maurizio Cattelan from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
The court heard that it took the thieves just five minutes to remove the £4.8m (AU$9.84m) solid gold toilet, which was plumbed in and fully functioning as part of an art exhibition at the world-heritage home and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. The toilet has never been retrieved and is believed to have been broken down and distributed amongst the thieves. Image: Tom Lindboe
