Weather and time takes its toll on decking, so before everyone heads outside to catch the cool breezes over summer, you might want to make sure yours is in top condition.
Walk the entire deck to check for rot, splitting or protruding nails and to see that everything feels solid. Pay attention to handrails, looking for loose boards, missing nails, separated joints and support posts that feel wobbly. Finally, check the condition of the deck’s finish; if a fresh coat is due get it done now.
