Building work barely lifts
Building work on new homes barely changed in the March quarter 2024, pulled down by a drop in new apartments, according to data released this week by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The latest figures show that the total number of dwellings commenced rose 0.5 per cent to 39,715 in the March quarter, seasonally adjusted.

IKEA warning on power bank
Swedish furniture giant IKEA has issued a recall notice on a brand of power banks, saying they can overheat and melt during use because of a manufacturing fault.
IKEA is urging all customers who own a VARMFRONT power bank 10 400 mAh (model number E2038) with date stamp 2313, 2316, 2318 or 2319, to immediately stop using it and contact IKEA for a replacement product, or a full refund.
