
Queensland has become the second Australian state where the average home now costs $1m, new data shows.
Figures released this week by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) have revealed that the total value of Australia’s residential dwellings rose by $317 billion, or 2.7 per cent, to $11.9 trillion in the September quarter 2025.
Queensland is the second state after New South Wales with a mean dwelling price of over $1 million, following a rise of 3.5 per cent or $33,900 in the September quarter 2025. The mean price of dwellings in Queensland is now $91,400 higher than in the September quarter 2024.
The mean price of residential dwellings rose in all states and territories, with the largest lifts seen in Western Australia (up 4.5 per cent or $40,800), Queensland (3.5 per cent or $33,900) and the Northern Territory (5.3 per cent or $28,400).
Around the country, the average home price is now $1,295.90 in New South Wales, $918.50 in Victoria, $1,005.60 in Queensland, $887 in South Australia, $947.90 in WA, $669.30 in Tasmania, $564.10 in the NT and $968.10 in the ACT.
